This does not even make sense from solely a hockey perspective. He does not play in their top4, probably does not play on the pp because they want to let Sandin develop for that and don't want to insult a big guy in the room by taking Rielly off of PP entirely. He has to be sheltered anyways because of his poor defense, and it makes way more sense for the leafs to look for a PK dman as their 6/7, or give Liljegren the 7th dman role to finally see what they have.

Lets just say Dubas takes a shot at this. DeAngelo is a very good player. Has a bad rep, I know. So a 1 year deal for cheap and it could pay off if DeAngelo keeps his mouth shut. If not, off to Robidas Island for the rest of the year. I don't think I'd mind If our boy Doobie gives it a shot. The only thing I heard that he did was get into a scrum with Georgiev, right?

One person's wrong doings do not justify someone else's. DeAngelo is a terrible person and would absolutely ruin the leafs chemistry. Not only is his character questionable, it doesn't even make sense to sign him. Where does he play in the line up? Just an absolute terrible person that should never step foot on NHL ice again.

He is not really that good of a player. He is really good offensively, but struggles massively defensively. Leaf fans think it's tough watching Rielly play d. Tony D makes Rielly look like Larry Robinson.

Honestly the way you have to shelter him and the role he would play, the media scrutiny is not even worth it. This of course does not even account for the moral and ethical issues.

If he signs for the right price, do it.
