The wild are in for a heavy Salary Cap burden. This thread is for discussing options and what everything means that has and will happen in the next four seasons. Starting in 21-22 the cap concerns aren't here yet but as of 22-23 it kicks in going from 4.75 mil to 12.75 mil dead space. In 23-24 and 24-25 it tops out at 14.75 mil dead cap. The 4 years after it only lingers with a total of 1.67 mil against the cap.

The cap will go up eventually but as of now nobody knows when that will be. The goal here is to spitball ideas at the wall and see what possibilities are out there.

Please be respectful of other people and no trolling. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so let's keep it civil.

Honestly, we will probably be bargain hunting for the forseeable future. Just like yesterday, we aren't going in necessarily with players in mind but a price in mind. If we can only spend so much, we can only purchase what's available and not necessarily what we want. Dean Evason and the coaching staff will have their work cut out for them for the next 4 years.

GMBG will just keep signing old guys he either played with or have ties to PIT.

I'm guessing Kaprizov pulls a PLD and demands out in 2 years. Then the team goes into a tank and the cap doesn't matter anymore.

Kaprizov is going to get 8M. Fiala will get 6M. Greenway goes UFA next year. I think the only way the Wild stay competitive is to move Dumba, Greenway or both. Getting Rask off the books helps too. I really believe the Wild should be targeting Tampa as a trade partner with Arizona as a possible middle man. Wild trade salary and prospect(s) to AZ. Then AZ trades picks to TBL. Minny receives lower salary players players from TBL. I really like Cernak and Cirelli.

Or, take a run a Dvorak. He is locked up for four more years (I think).

But, no matter what, Dumba is the odd man out. The man-bear-pigs need that 6M in cap space to work with. There is simply no way we land anything resembling an established center without that cash. There is ZERO chance at resigning him (assuming Kap and Fiala get signed) so GMBG may as well trade him. And, of course, the above is very dependent upon Boldy, Rossi & O'Rourke becoming impact players in the NHL ASAP.
