Sorry, yeah let me clarify, why the heck would the Kraken do this trade?

Value wise.

Chytil = 1st
Strome = 2nd + 3rd minimum
Upgrade a 2nd to a 1st (15-20 spots)

So essentially they are getting 2 1sts and a 3rd for the 2OA.. normally when you trade down you don’t get 3-4 1sts or an Eichel package.. no telling if Beniers is even good at NHL level yet, he could flip like Hughes did. Might have to move the kid to wing or 3C

That's not enough for an expansion team to trade a young player in a position they need.

Beniers>>Chytil

Strome + 1st for 2nd doesn't make up the difference

And what does "could flip like Hughes did" mean?

Right but all 1st rounders are not created equal. Beniers has the value of the 2nd overall pick...Chytil isn't worth close to that. For arguments sake let's say 10OA in value. Strome, without a contract extension, is a 2+3. And the 2022nd 1st is more than likely what, 20-25? So in your opinion

10OA
2nd, 3rd rounder
pick 20-25

Is worth number 2?

I don't see it- need a lot more than that. Plus we haven't even touched on the fact Seattle wouldn't move the guy they want to be the face of their franchise lol

I agree not all 1st are equal which is why I didn’t just offer a 1st.. so yes let’s say 10OA(Chytil) and 20OA. What does this get you?? # 9/8/7/6/5/4/3/2?

As for Hughes, sure points, can’t produce points and we can all defend it by saying he doesn’t have marner and panarin on his line. So why does a 1OA supposed to be 1C suck at faceoffs? The wingers in NJ are better on the dot. “But he is good defensively” well ya, he is always playing defensive when you don’t win a faceoff. I think he was ranked 100th in the league for faceoffs. That’s a list of players who take a substantial amount of faceoffs

Of course. Hughes might be the most underrated player in the league

First player in NHL History to go from the USDP to the NHL
Rough first season but that had to do with Hughes being too small and not NHL Ready. Still performed similarly to Kaako who was supposed to be NHL Ready.
Semi-Breakout year this year, amazing offensive and controlled the offensive play. Just couldn't get points without a true sniper on his line
Great defensively, being 2nd in the league in takeaways

And he just turned 20

Hughes>Kaako and it's not even a debate

Us Devils fans know how good Hughes is.

No numbers 10 and 20 do not get you anything past probably 6, especially in this class where there were clearly 2-3 top prospects, which Beniers was one of them. The value isn't there. Now if Strome had an extension, then I could see it, because he's under rated at this point, could get a 1st and a 3rd if he has an extension. But one year of Strome, Chytil, and a late 2022 1st doesn't get you the 2nd over all pick and a 2nd.

Lol so Hughes stinks because he's not good in the dot, got it...losing a lot of credibility with boneheaded arguments like that one.

This is a terrible comment

Basically, your only reason that Hughes isn't good is because he isn't good at faceoffs? You're acting like he can't get better at faceoffs. Hughes isn't good defensively just because he loses faceoffs and has to play defense. He was bad at faceoffs in his rookie year and wasn't good defensively. This year, he is good defensively because he has great hands which helps him with takeaways, and has a great hockey IQ.

Depends on the draft class but assuming we're talking about 2021 draft class, he wouldn't get you to move up much. There was a drop off after 9. Plus, Chytil isn't worth 10OA

He isn’t elite offensively, terrible on the dot and decent defensively. In fact Chytil was better offensively and on the dot

He is elite offensively, dig into the underlying numbers. Also very good defensively. Again, the only downfall in his game right now are faceoffs
