Wouldn’t it be better to have Korpi instead of Stalock. I’d send a 3rd Arizona’s way to also retain half so you get him at 25% of the price.

Not sure how willing Columbus would be to retain salary on the two fairly valuable assets they're trading when they acquire a cap dump, imo any Johnson trade needs to involve at least a first to entice teams. A return like this for only two second round picks seems a little bit overly optimistic

Doesn't make sense for Columbus to retain on low-paying deals like Korpisalo and Robinson. You can only retain on three deals at a time and Columbus is looking to weaponize its cap space. They also LOVE Robinson and probably value him higher than Tyler Johnson.

Dumping Strålman cost a 2nd and a prospect drafted in the 2nd round.

You're not dumping Johnson for the same price and on top of that getting Korpi with half retained.

It is going to cost more than a 1st rounder, Johnson still has 3 more years and he can deny a trade to 20 teams. Even finding a team willing to take the dump that Johnson wants to go will be hard enough.

Stalock was hurt most of last year, and the 19/20 season had solid numbers. Needed the cap space and TB lightning backup goalie may be the single most irrelevant position in sports with this team as constructed Vasy playing 60 games at .7 point % pulls 84 points. No team attaining 97 points has missed the playoffs this century. Meaning TB backup needs to accumulate 13 points in 22 games most AHL goalies could do that behind TB.

Yeah, my mistake. I looked it as a 20-team no-trade list not 20-team trade list. Still, that effectively eliminates almost every team willing to take the dump. I'm positive CBJ would be the first team on his list.

I'm not I know 7ahead of them being he's stated he will not play in Canada, the dumpster fire that is the Buffalio Sabres is probably ahead of them that's 8
And comparing stralmans play to Johnson's is laughable Stralman was no longer an NHL quality player when he left Tampa Bay, while Johnson is still a Quality mid 6player though over paid by about 1.5-2 million per

Yeah I follow that. It’s just after all that playoff hockey the past 2 years I don’t wanna burn him out. But he is definitely a workhorse. Honestly an AHL goalie probably could get the job done behind the d core.

As far as I’m concerned, I love pissed off Vasy. He feels disrespected = cup.

If I’m the jackets, I don’t make this trade. I insist if I’m retaining half on 2 guys and your sending Johnson. I’m asking for the 2 seconds and cal Foote. You’ve gotta give to get. Those 2 half retained are worth a second and maybe a little extra. It will cost more then another second to dump Johnson. A first is very likely the cost. Or a player like a cal Foote or Eric cernak, if you don’t want to move a first.

Korpisalo sucks. No interest in that trade from Edmonton's perspective - I'd rather play Stalock and that's without even considering the contract difference.

Sure, but Korpisalo is worse and has a larger contract. Not interested in that guy AT ALL.

For sure he won't want to go to Ohio where there is only corn fields and the team is setting up a long rebuild. The same goes for ARZ, even though the weather is nicer there.

So that takes it to 10 teams and we have already crossed over the biggest cap dump takers aside from maybe Seattle. But I don't imagine they have changed their asking price for taking dumps since the expansion draft. You won't get rid of Johnson without giving a first. And don't expect getting anything of value back

I disagree with the Ohio thing 3.6state income tax rate compared to California tax rate of 13% I'd think LA, ANA, SJ might be on them first.NJ also may be ahead of CBJ on the no way list

Johnson has career earnings of 32,2M, I don't think a couple of tax percentages will shy him away from big cities like LA. California teams, especially LA, are almost never on players' no-trade lists. Amazing weather, buzzing city and a big market to play for. Only a fool would choose Ohio over that

10% isn't a "few points" . 1/4 million per is real money

It is real money, but not on the scale that it is for ordinary folk like us. It's not like: "Oh, I'll live a few years in Ohio and won't have to work ever again". After this contract, he will have earned 47M in his career. 1.5M is 3% of that.

I also know several people who wouldn't take their families in the middle of nowhere for 3 years for that much. Plus, he can't put all the teams with higher tax rates on his no-trade list so why even bother? Odds are he is going to a higher-tax state anyway
