As a Sharks fan, Fleury was the only thing in Vegas that I respected. Now, it's just rancid milk. Screw Vegas.

Now that Vegas has freed up capspace I don't know if they have the pieces to make a move on Eichel unless it's some crazy 3-way deal.

If Toews and Dach are back, I think they’re a fringe playoff team. They have the offensive pieces, they’re young, say what you want about Seth Jones but he’s a massive upgrade to the blue line and now a solid goalie.

Hard to believe that the Penguins didn't want to offer at least SOMETHING to bring Fleury back to Pittsburgh for one last shot at the Cup.

As much of a Vegas fan as I am, this trade is horrible for both sides for multiple reasons.

Why it sucks for Vegas: They got NOTHING in return for a Vezina winning goalie. They didn't even tell him he got traded. HE WAS THE GUY FOR THE ENTIRE FRANCHISES EXISTENCE. Whether he was the guy on the ice, or the guy that made the team popular through advertising, he was their guy. And they couldn't even let him know he was being traded, or have the decency to ask him where he wanted to go for nothing.

Why it sucks for Chicago: That is a whole lot of cap space taken up on a 36 year old goalie who is pretty much a Lankinen mentor at this point.

Win for Vegas because they clear 7mil in cap space. Lose for Chicago because they could use 7mil to help sign a player longer term than 1 year. Bowman really must want to protect his job by barely getting into the playoffs this year (which they probably won't even do).

If Vegas gives up a big return for Eichel without sending any cap to Buffalo and without any retained salary, then this makes no sense.
