how the Leafs win the cup

Created by: ye_
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 27, 2021
Published: Jul. 27, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
the leafs need a true number 1 defenseman and Hamilton fits that mold. also do The Leafs basically have 2 first lines now which few teams can match. if you shutdown the Matthews line you still have the Dvorak Tavares Marner line to worry about. the leafs also have a fast third line with a wildcard in robertson. Spezza and Crouse will also provide depth scoring. The Leafs also have a capable third line center who is great defensively and can win a important draw. tell me if you think this team is good enough to win it all. LETSGO LEAFS!!!

The real downside of the Ristolainen trade. People around these parts will start using that awful decision as a comparable.

Just because Chuck Fletcher is a moron doesn't make Rob Blake one too.

What about the Jones trade than? Rielly and Jones are comparable dman who both have only 1 year left on their deals. and the hawks gave up two firsts and underrated Boqvist. only difference is that Jones came off a terrible year and Rielly had a good playoffs with the leafs.

As an Oilers fan I approve, Good deal. Splitting Marner and Matthews is crucial and you understand that. Marner making 11m must be able to drive his own line. You gotta do that when making 10m+. Also the 3rd and 4th lind are both interesting in their own way. Top 6 is really good. If we could get secondary scoring we could maybe match you but atm you got 2 great lines. if this team doesn't win a 1st round what will? Great job overall!

That was also a sign and trade, the payment seems to show that the Blackhawks believe Jones is one of the best defensemen in the entire league who just had an off year. Reilly if not given a hometown discount (and likely a NTC) will test the free market next season. Which means the Kings would be paying a 1st (potential top 10), recent 2nd round pick and a 4th for a one year rental. No way they do that.

LA will not give up a 1st round pick for Morgan Rielly. LA is looking for a puck-moving LHD age 25 and under. People conveniently leave that part out when authoring trades.

Quoting: Dreger
“Rob Blake of the Los Angeles Kings is looking for a defenseman in the category 25 and under. He specifically wants a dynamic, left-shot defenseman."

what kind of return would you be willing to gave up for Rielly? Maybe its a outlier but he also has only 1 year left and I would argue Rielly is way better than him. Also dont you guys need a LD?

The Kings had a rookie play on the top pair last year and he only got better as the season went on, they want a top LD but not a rental, think Werenski level player who is an RFA at contract end. That is a player who they would give up a 1st, a great prospect, and supplemental picks. The Kings can just overpay to get a placeholder free agent LD for one year and take their shot at Reilly then.
