So there was really nobody from LA that they thought could be more valuable than a 4th?

Edit: Also this trade is an L for Colorado because MacDermid is an absolutely horrendous hockey player.

Sakic’s GM rep has really taken a nosedive this offseason

Surely there was more value on that LA roster to take

So, Why not take Anthanasiou and trade him, if this was the route?

I agree this is an awful move but I think he's done a really good job otherwise. Got decent value for Graves especially since he was going to be gone for nothing and that Makar extension was great. Draft was solid too

I guess he's the 6th defenseman?

More like 8th or 9th

Makar, Toews, Girard, Byram, EJ, Timmins, MacDonald are all better than him, plus Gilbert too

Why on earth did they select him if they weren’t going to keep him? You cannot tell me Kale Clague couldn’t have fetched more than a 4th round pick.

If this was SEA's plan all along, they could've easily picked Clague instead and gotten significantly more. They still win in a vacuum, as they got a pick for one of the worst dmen in the league, but there was some definite opportunity cost here.

Is there a "both teams lose" option?

I’m convinced Sakic just felt bad for Ron Francis

Yeah, but there was no one better to choose from the Coyotes. Meanwhile the Kings had a plethora of good, young players available.

Settle wins, MacDermid is kind of useless other than for fights. Probably not worth a 4th for Colorado.

They could've picked Fischer. Fischer > Pitlick.

Not really. Pitlick had a better season last year, and it’s not like there’s much potential with Fischer.

like everyone else is saying, seattle could've gotten more by not making a terrible expansion pick.

what an great start ron francis is having. really hope he slows down on acquiring all these fourths.
