Just think. Vancouver could have had Toffoli and Tanev for the same money that they spent on Schmidt and Virtanen.

I got a tweet for yall to think about

Van with the next L on the list

Toffoli could have been in a Canucks Jersey rn along with Tanev

While Van has 26mill in cap space Hughes and Petterson are gonna eat a large portion along with Dickenson. Then they got to replace Holtby. So that space is gonna be gone quickly. Also you got to replace Schmidt and sure they are bringing back Schenn but okay you need a defensively minded top 4 Dman. Dont think were gonna see an improvement in Vancouver's GA.

Demko good luck man

Canucks win this trade they get their pick back and can now go out and try to sign a defensive D man that suits their needs better.

Winnipeg bets on Schmidt bouncing back for them.

Great trade for the Canucks. They acquired Schmidt for a 3rd, Schmidt got much worse, then they traded Schmidt for a 3rd. This also clears up a good amount of cap space for the Canucks. Jimbo with the W's.

Good deal for the jets. Schmidt can be paired with the defensive Dillon and the jets can run a top pairing of JoMo and pionk. Then have heinola and someone else round it out. Plenty of options even if they decide to go a different way. Great move by chevy

I personally am confident Schmidt can bounce back and is a solid puck mover for us. He won’t be asked to be “the guy” in Winnipeg. No doubt he’s 3/4d on the team. Maybe 5th. This team is looking very good. Good job chevy!

If you'd told me Sunday night they Jets would have added 2 Top 4 Dmen to their roster without spending a first round pick or a prospect I'd have called you crazy.

I think it's a good deal for both sides, makes sense for both teams.

I think wpg got a good deal. Schmidt was good in Vegas. Can play both sides. Struggled with mostly offensive partners in Vancouver. I think he'll bounce back if put in a better spot to succeed

Seems like a win for both. VAN gets much needed cap space and WPG gets a decent player on the cheap.

Chevy DID NOT take the day off smile. What a 24 hours to be a jets fan! Or what a week actually with Chevy killing the draft too!

I voted against the PEG (not the deal per se), but due to WPG's fuggly Cap-scene:
16 signed NHLers & only US$7.7MIL in C_r_AP Space left...

How is this anything but a W for VAN? They only gave up a 3rd rounder when they acquired him last summer. Considering his high AAV and his lack of production last season, I'd say WPG did Benning a big favor here.

Stick little on ltir and that becomes 13 mil

Who do they have left to sign? 2 mil for a backup goalie 6 mil for plionk.

That leaves 5 mil for 5 bottom 6 forwards. Trade Beaulieu and they have 7 mil or so. Likely have to ditch Copp but worth it

How is 5 mil a high AAV for a #2-3 dman? Schmidt did badly in van but I suspect (may be wrong) it's because he was miscast to try to cover the defensive deficiencies of guys like Myers and Hughes which is setting him up for failure.

Vancouver paid Vegas a 3rd round pick for Nate Schmidt.

Now, they've traded him elsewhere.

If the Canucks got more than a 3rd round pick, Vancouver would have won the trade.

If the Canucks got less than a 3rd round pick, Winnipeg would have likely won the trade.

The Canucks got exactly a 3rd round pick back for Nate Schmidt.

This is a fair deal.
