Final looks before FA

Description
Big Notes:
1) The Reilly deal is what we would have offered Suter at max, so he's off the table.
2) I want to see Kuhlman in the lineup on the 4th line, I think he makes that line competitive as a fast, hungry line.
3) I think DeBrusk is held onto and they pump his value up until the trade deadline. They're selling low so might as well let him try to play.
4) They're gonna let someone crack the roster from the AHL to encourage Frederick to play hard and make it competitive. I think Lauko makes the lineup in the next 2 years so let's say it's him.

You do realize Holtby sucks right? Worst goalie in the league statistically the last 2 years amongst qualifiers.

And by signing him swayman goes to Prov. He is waiver exempt, Vlad is not and won’t clear.

1. Makes no sense. Two totally different styles of play. One should have zero to do with the other. Suter - Grzelcyk, Reilly is a lot better than what you have here.
2. Kuhlman stinks
3. Agreed.
4. You think Trent Frederic needs added motivation to stay competitive??? Trent Frederic…seriously?

Oh, and Holtby is horrible. That contract is silly.

Suter was never gonna settle for 3mil. He's looking for at least 4, and BOS can still be in on him

I don't think they necessarily call Vlad up this season. Unless they pull a Sway-Vlad tandem, any veteran that comes in is in the same situation as above. Is Holtby the best? Probably not but he could be a steal considering how down the league is on him. Any goalie will benefit from the Bs system

Vlad would have to clear waivers to go down initially. He goes to camp with Boston then he would have to clear to be sent to Prov. He won’t. He’s either on the roster or trade him or you lose him for nothing.

Ok, but 3m for him? Sign him for 1m. If someone tops it…thank them.

1) it's the money and contract, not the player
2) agree to disagree
3) sweet
4) they shut him down as soon as he started things with Wilson, and it's not like they did it to make him a better player overall, they did it because they didn't trust him. He hasn't been able to play and redeem himself. I think they have a positive outlook on him so they are going to push him

As for the suter situation. Plenty of room. Why does it matter?

As for frederic, dude has arguably the highest compete level on the team. I just have no clue what you’re talking about, or what player you were watching. They shut him down because they were worried he was going to take a dumb penalty.

Fair enough on the cap hit for your 4 month insurance policy. I like Elliot, Brossoit, and Hutton for it too

The cap space goes away quickly unless you start making trades, but as for Freddy, coaching made the decision not to play him in the end of the Isles series when they could have used him. The 4th line this year is the biggest challenge since they're going to have to take a whole new approach. Everyone is on a short leash from Coyle down

Ohhhh the coaching staff decided not to use a rookie??? Must be the compete level, right?

It’s just a flat out insane take. Don’t mean to be a dink, but did you watch him play a shift this year?

As for suter, play it out. Where does that room disappear? Pretend you’re not wasting $3M on one of the worst goalies in the NHL.

Look at the FA pool of competent RD to pair with McAvoy, there's no feasible option. They have to go the trade route and unless you're moving DeBrusk with other assets (which you've agreed isn't the best idea), you're not getting value there. Suter wants 3 years minimum and you're about to pay his potential partner 9 million+. It doesn't work.

As for Freddy. It isn't about compete level, it's about options in a 4th line you're redefining from veteran grinders and PK guys to young speedsters with an edge.

Mcavoy is a RD. They’re looking for a LD. Suter would be ideal. Murray would be okay.
