Well according to Yzerman Bertuzzi isn't being dealt unless it's a vast overpayment and your trade just doesn't have enough quality there., Yzerman already said that Bertuzzi will cost the Mantha blueprint. So that pretty much should tell you what his cost will be.

Lysell + second is probably right around “fair” value given he’s better than Kapanen but he’s had a back injury. Yzerman has stated he wants to keep him long term but he only has one year left of team control. If he plays hardball I could see this as a “fair” offer. As for the original offer Kuhlman & Zboril are ehhhh and Studnicka has been overrated. It also helps I really like the upside of Lysell.

How do you figure? Studnicka is a 3C we've Veleno and Rasmussen as one of our 3C Khulman basically the same thing not enough quality here. Zboril is a bottom pairing LD we don't need. If you honestly look at our RD and LD pipeline it's one of the best in the NHL And 2 late 2nd this is nowhere close to the Mantha blueprint. We want back a legit younger scoring winger similar to Bertuzzi and this doesn't cut it.

Studnicka is a 2C and 2 firsts along with 2 projects, and in this case you dont take on a bad contract

Studnicka is no 2C in Detroit, there;s noway Studnicka is any better then Joe Veleno who's probably our 2C by default unless Yzerman signs Wennberg and makes him our 2C. The overall package isn't enticing we can get far better offer from LA.

Detroit doesn't have to and most likely won't trade him. So Detroit can ask for whatever they want and if no team wants to pay Detroit is happy keeping Bertuzzi.

If Studnicka has remotely the same value as Bertuzzi, he had better start lighting up the league here because 4 points in like 22 career NHL games says otherwise.

I’m more than fine keeping Bertuzzi and like I said so is Yzerman. I provided a comparable trade as a baseline if someone was interested in acquiring his services.

The big thing here isn't Bertuzzi's value on paper. His value to the Red Wings is much higher than that. A consistent 20 goal scorer on a team that struggles to score goals, can play in all situations, and has the high hockey IQ and compete levels that Yzerman covets. Keeping him is more value added than taking a "fair" return.
That's why Wings fans want the moon for him. We'd rather just keep him in the first place, unless you offered something so unbelievably valuable to Detroit that nobody in their right mind could say no (i.e. the Mantha trade, a 1st, 2nd, younger center with lots of upside, and a cap dump).

Yeah, nobody is going to offer Lysell, who looks like he is going to have more upside than bertuzzi. Add to that Bertuzzi is injured, and that there have been (from what I heard) little to no contract talks between his camp and management.

Like I said I provided a comparable trade what you’re saying is speculation. The odds of Lysell @21 OVR becoming a top 6 winger in the NHL isn’t a sure thing per Dobber’s NHL draft probability article. Yzerman has also stated multiple times he isn’t focused on RFAs but rather expansion draft, NHL draft, free agency, and then RFAs. Further any trade with Bertuzzi involves medical records to mitigate that risk. Couple that fact with Yzerman stating he isn’t looking to trade Bertuzzi seems like you won’t be getting him for peanuts especially with the numerous teams inquiring about him (rumored around 8-9).

To make things clear, I'm not apart of the "sell for Bertuzzi" part of Boston. I just don't want to trade Lysell. That's really all I care about. I don't care about acquiring him at all. You can keep him if you'd like. In fact, I hope Sweeney doesn't engage in talks with Yzerman at all. I think we all know how that's going to go.
