This team above would compete imo. They need to add a 2nd liner with Toews and Kubalik and then trade for a top LD which will be hard

Not a hater, just realistic - weak down the middle, weak bottom 6 and a very mediocre defense (that Seth Jones contract is lunacy, btw).

Not a done deal but Mckenzie has linked us to Mccabe and basically "predicted" we sign him. So we'll see where that goes. He's likley what we do at LD. Then that offence is what I have just different lines. Hawks fans want to develop Dach at center but he does play much better on the wing fyi. We need a top 6 winger and Dach could just be it if Johnosn can just be carried by Cat and Kane offensivly. Johnson wins faceoffs, which Dach doesn't do yet, and plays a good two way game to compliment all the offence cat and kane provide. Hey he should even put up good point totals up there and maybe get back to having positive value in a year

I would argue against weak down the middle and bottom 6. It kinda feels like you never watch the hawks and just made that up right now. Defence isn't great but the additions of Jones, Mccabe, and Jones plus Flower should make us keep it out of the net much better than in recent years

Just hope that Johnson remains relevant in the final 3 years of his deal

In all honesty, it's hard to play well when you were only given 13 ATOI a game. Can't get in any rhythm. The reason he played only 13 ATOI is because the TBL were $18M over the cap. I think he'll be back to the 40-50 point player he is.

Well, it appears Fleury isn't gonna play, McCabe isn't on the roster and you can slice it anyway you like but that bottom 6 is pretty weak. Dach should be playing 2C with Toews 1C and Johnson 4C.

maybe, would suggest eigther theres a lot of faith in eigther Borgstrom or Reichel to step in and contribute right away, or maybe the door isn't closed on Suter. Other wise we probably need another forward back in a strome trade

I think teams need to stop rushing players. Even players from the draft before like Poulin, Tomasino, McMichael, Pelletier etc need another year of development. It’s way too early. Since Reichel played in Europe maybe he makes the team end of year but not at the start of camp

Strome , Zadorov, DeHaan , Fleury’s contract can all be cleared easily. I’m not sure what they plan to do with Murphy? 5 x 5 extension?

Hawks fan here. They are still too weak. I can be ok with the defense actually, but they are too weak in their bottom 6. Connelly needs to be on taxi squad all season and it would save a fair amount. Outside of that, they needs to make some splashes in FA to address depth. Which they can do, so it could be a very good day. But they certainly need to trade the LTIR space (Shaw) for a draft pick IMO. Or maybe trade him for a depth forward.
Assuming Stan can make splashes today, then I'm on board with this fast track rebuild. But if he doesn't, it was a GIANT waste to trade for Jones right now. This roster is barely ready for playoffs.
