Dubas loves taking L's

I'd be so pissed if I was a Leafs fan

Hyman is a good player who could shine in Edmontons top 6. It's not exactly a shrewd signing, but one that will make the team better nevertheless.

If Edmonton could develop a process to acquire this type of player before the age of 30 they'd probably be a way better team.

Would Hyman have signed for 8 years at $5 mill had that been the case? If so, Toronto should have been happy to let Edmonton hang themselves with Lucic 2.0

Edmonton needs to do something to help them win, Hyman yes he helps with that but I truely do not think this is what they needed. Edmontons depth is bad very poorly built, and then you see there goaltending situation, that's not a cup winning duo. I think Edmonton is wasting McDavid and Drai's contracts. They won't want to stay in Edmonton after they are up.

How long before this becomes a Clarkson/Lucic/Neal type contract?

My guess is 2 years

If I'm Toronto or any other GM. I'd take those draft picks and run wild. It's already bad term, another year only makes it worse. Dubas refused assets and let another GM not make a mistake. 2 L's

The money isn't that bad for a 2RW, but the term and NMC are brutal.

I love Hyman and wish he stayed but not for this. Too much money and too much term.

Holland is a major league turd if he thinks this is a good deal.

Chiarelli 2.0 with this deal, just replace Lucic with Hyman.

He was my favorite player in Toronto but this contract has too much money and too much term. Players with Hyman's play style don't tend to age well. I wish him all the best.

He needed someone to fill the gap for the overpaid winger (in term and $) that buying out Neal made

It's 100% a mistake, but 8 years at 5.1 is even worse, and Toronto gets value from it opposed to nothing.
