2 years would be an absolute disaster that I don't see happening (never know though). If I had to guess, it will become bad in year 4-5

Wouldn't he be able to maintain those number playing with McDavid? Sure he's not a super star but isn't he a Killorn, Palat, Hornqvist type, supporting type, that you can really win without? Terms not great but isn't 5.5 about right?

Dubas didn't accept those picks because he thought that the extra ~400k a year Edmonton would save, should've netted Toronto better assets, instead, Toronto got nothing and Edmonton actually got a better contract because of it.

i'm guessing it's because the 500k difference matters more than a 5th/7th in the short term due to the flat cap.

I just think Hymans style in a division with bigger (by height and weight), more physical division will take its toll, especially since hes being brought in to go to the dirty areas for McDavid/Drai

In the short and medium term, this a a huge win for the Oilers and a huge loss for the Leafs. I don't like the 7-year term at all, but I guess Holland will be retired in 3 years so he doesn't care.

Nah the Nuge deal is fine, I’d say that’s the best thing he’s done. Losing Larsson and bringing in/back Barrie, Keith, Ceci (ouch…), Hyman for too much money, being forced to buy out Neal, and trading away the pick used on Wallstedt when your biggest franchise need is a young G makes for an atrocious off-season though.

Contracts like this usually don't age too well. 3 or 4 years would have been enough term.

The term is just TERRIBLE! Poor McDavid and Draisaitl. Ken Holland will never give them a chance to win a cup. One of the worst GMs of the league. No-brainer to me.

not really were gonna enjoy Edmonton having another Lucic contract. Cap space is key and Holland played hardball. Hes got 2 good years to use Hyman before he becomes another Ladd

Hyman has been a solid player for several years now and will help make the oilers top 6 quite good. It's a good signing. Not sure why everyone is assuming this deal is gonna be horrible in a couple years. There has been no evidence to suggest that.
