I was completely on team 7-3-1 ahead of the expansion draft and protecting McCann over Holl

Now I see that Cody Ceci is getting 3 X 4 and the Flames are paying assets for Zadorov on the heels of big acquisitions costs for a bunch of D that were traded.

I take it all back, protecting Holl was the right call. He would easily make 4.5 AAV on the open market right now

Completely agree. The whole McCann situation was a prime example of wanting the "new thing." Guess there's a reason Dubas is in an office and we are online

Agreed, I have flipped as well.

And it's not even as much about the Holl the player. For me it's more about the fact that Leafs have a $2M 20+ min per night RHD.

What would it cost in assets or $$ to fill that spot if needed?

I wouldn't be shocked if Bogosian get $2M+ within the next couple of days.

Personally I'm disappointed that Seattle chose the best player for Toronto instead of doing what they did for most teams and chose some random depth player.

Yeah, he takes the bargain deal.

I'm assuming he was getting tired of being a suitcase and gave up some $$ for term.

If $$ was the biggest factor he probably could have got Cole $$ or close to it.

From the rumours I've seen on twitter he and his family apparently weren't a fan of Ontario's covid restrictions which may explain it a bit more.

Yeah, I saw that. The way Delta V is taking off now, I don't blame him for not wanting to risk getting blocked by border restrictions again this season.

Dubas be galaxy braining this **** rn. Like wow this free agency taught me that losing McCann to protect Holl was actually smart

Like wow Holl with his numbers and the fact he is only making 2mill is a steal rn.

especially when you consider Dman who are worse are got more

Like TUCKER POOLMAN who is way worse got 2.5mill tears of joy

Then you got Montour at 3.5, Cole at 2.9 and so on

I been a long time supporter of Justin Holl.
The atrocious contracts giving out this offseason further solidified my opinon.

Without a flat cap I feel Holl would get pushed to 3rd pair with Sandin.

He definitely has not looked out of place next to Muzzin, if anything Muzzin is becoming injury prone.

I agree with you. I don't know why so many Leafs fans (and non Leafs fans) think the Leafs low cost so called bottom enders are bums, and that cheap bottom enders from poor teams are so frigging good.

On a true contender Holl would be a 3rd pair D. I understand why the Leafs are playing him on that 2nd pair but ideally having him play 3rd pair is where he should be.

I'm not trying to take anything away from the guy. He showed alot of improvement and that's encouraging but still, here we are still looking for a playoff series win.
