This contract screams "Yikes!" I mean...why would they give that much term & cap hit to a guy in his mid-late 30's?

EDIT: And with a full NMC attached now...it's a bigger "Yikes!"

2 years? Sure. 3 years? No. But 4 YEARS? That seems risky. If they keep him in a sheltered role it won’t be a complete disaster. He’s still a 3/4 defenseman.

Why didn't the Wild trade Suter to Dallas half retained and save 3M on the cap?

Dallas gave too much term in this deal.

Suter's been aging pretty well but I don't see him playing out this contract. Even if he does he won't be worth the nearly 4 million cap hit.
