That's awful. There won't be a single year where this contract is worth it. Likely a buyout in the next few years.

Great player but the term is dubious. But if that's what it took to get him so be it, the flames will be better for it for a couple years at least.

Everyone was saying Coleman wouldn't sign in Canada...

This deal is right between Goodrow and Hyman's deals. So I guess you could say it's a fair deal for this free agency.

He's a good middle 6 forward. But it seems like a million too much.

what the truly great organizations do is try to find the next Coleman, Hyman and Goodrow not pay a ton for the current ones

The salary is ok, but not for such term. I'd offer 3 years at most for such salary. To sign for 6 years, I'd offer less than 4M. 3.5 would be nice. Not a good contract.

I don't think Calgary is in the kind of position to be handing this kind of contract out unless they think they can seriously contend.
