They gave Andersen 1m more than their Calder finalist goalie, despite Andersen not having a starting caliber-season in 2 years. What in god's name is this?
A small question to those which vote for yes: HOW do you guys can think this is a good sign, when Carolina traded their good young goalie (which signed for just 3M) for almost nothing to sign an inconsistent goalie, like Andersen, for 4.5M??? It makes NO SENSE AT ALL.
Jeez why couldn't we just pay Ned and Mrazek less. They're better anyways. I guess Andersen was better than nothing at this point already giving up our two good goalies.
Ironic that he signs as a UFA with Carolina, after being drafted by them and refusing to sign with them.
not worth the cap hit though- Carolina took a big step backwards in the goalie position, and losing Bean hurts.
Of course, it would've been better to sign Ned but that's done now. Given that has already happened, signing a 31 y/o Andersen to a $4.5m x 2 is pretty good.
