Valuable comment.

People forget that Poolman was used next to Morrissey which was a disasterous pairing. Although I saw poolman as more of a 2x2 type, I see some similarities to Jensen of WSH in this contract. It's not like he's the only defenseman overpaid this market. Seems to just be the market for these depth D. (i'd rather this than forbort/ceci)

To be fair ... Poolman did rack up an assist last year.

And it was one pass away from being a primary assist.

defense market is going to be rough this year. I've said this over and over.
I had him at 2x2 ish. maybe a 3rd year depending on how many bidders.

It's longer and more money than I think he's worth. But the market for defense right now, it sucks to be a buyer.

Yes. This off-season. He also did a lot of work to fix past mistakes.

By the way, the reason he still has a job and Trevor Linden doesn't, is that Benning did what the owners want, while Linden wanted a slower build. Now, I agreed with Linden on this point, but you can't blame Benning for doing what his boss tells him to do.
