At best #6 defender. Maybe Ottawa gets more out of him like they did with Reilly, but it doesn't look good right now.

yea, I doubt Del Zotto thought he'd even get 950k..... but man Ottawa has ruined their good stretch of seasons/off seasons

Price is a bit steep, but that’s probably the price to play for Ottawa. Reminds me of Mike Reilly last year - find some depth guy who might have more to give

Delsaster is 3 years older though, a guy on the wrong side of 30 doesn't usually have "more to give".

he was pretty good with columbus last year but idk what the end goal here is, maybe trading brannstrom for a centre?

Anaheim and Columbus have been paying Del Zotto league minimum for the last two seasons basically.

Ottawa needs space for their young players. Del Zotto is fine but this doesn't make much sense.

The drastically overpaid a guy the Don't even need. Don't get this move at all, and it kind of makes me fear that the Sens Don't see Mete or Brannstrom as NHL regulars.

I don't believe overpaying Del Zotto is the end of the story.

The only way this makes any sense is if we are packaging Brannstrom/Mete together in order to make a big trade for someone.

We gave up Mark Stone for Brannstrom.

I'm hoping that if we move out Brannstrom, we get back somebody very special at the very least.



I also hope that special somebody signs a long-term extension in Ottawa.

I would also recommend preparing yourself for joy and happiness.


We needed to trade out Dadonov and many people on this site thought we wouldn't get much for him.

Pierre Dorion did well on that front.

I dont know if they needed him, but if he plays regularily..hes fine, but struggles when he is in and out of the line up.

Pairing Del Zotto with Zub should be better than Mete and Zub, and for those wondering what about Brannstrom, the offseason isn't over yet.

$2MM isn't a lot of money, and it's back loaded a bit giving the Sens a cheap first season and a deadline trade option not on an expiring contract.

So they sign him, boost his value with Zub, and then move him at the TDL for another 2022 asset.

His relationship apparently has really soured with the team. Kind of reminds me what happened with Stepan last year before he got hurt.

Anyways they are trying to move him once he clears lets see what happens.
