LANDYS BACK BABY AVS CAN NEVER DIE LIVE 1000 YEARS

Team: 2021-22 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 28, 2021
Published: Jul. 28, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Everybody say welcome back Grubi, throw in the extra prospect to get ANA to eat salary, Koekkoek is our depth guy on D (optimistic at that number), I guess MacDermid's here. Praying EJ can do his thing and is back for real. Expecting Byram and Timmins to take a step forward. Taxi squad is who gets called up when everybody gets hurt.

Edit: Grubauer's gone RIP, idk who tf wil be the goalie of this team, maybe let MacDermid take a crack.

Colorado likely looks to the trade market for a goalie now. Some good options out there, Fleury makes a ton of sense for them. Jarry might be an option. & Columbus has to move 1 of Merzlikins or Koorpisalo. So there's options available

There's options, Idk about Flower, I think he's leaning towards retirement, and I'm curious ab Chi being willing to move him in the first place just bc it looks like they're trying to be competitive. Kuemper would be sick, injury concerns are real. I'm lukewarm on Jarry, I'm less excited about either of CBJ's goalies.

Maybe a big move for Rakell and Gibson? Who's to say.

I've thought Gibson is a great fit for Colorado but he would cost an arm and a leg to get (and not really worth it) - I'm talking likely at least Byram.

Fleury is only contemplating retirement because of family reasons and with his family in Vegas, he may be okay with playing in Colorado which isn't too far from Vegas

I wonder about that arm and leg. Approaching 30, stats been in decline last 3 years, past two have been sub .905. The time to pounce would be now. I think if he's 26 we're talking Byram, now I think

3 picks + Newhook might be able to start us off.

Not trying to troll here, but it would probably Take Newhook, Byram and a 1st to get Gibson. Regardless of stats, he is an elite Goalie and would instantly be a Vezina candidate with Colorado.

That's exactly why I'm saying he's not worth it. He's typically seen as a guy that's "good but plays behind a terrible defence" - which I don't buy. His advantages stats have been declining as well and sure a change of scenery could do him wonders, but I don't think he's a top 15 goalie in the league. As for your age comment, it doesn't really make sense because he's right in the middle of 26 and 30 so he's not really pushing either way. Anaheim needs top calibre left handed defenceman so I think they'd be set on Byram being a dealbreaker - be smarter for Colorado to make a deal elsewhere for a goalie that's better and doesn't cost as much.

By that logic - regardless of stats, Martin Jones is an elite goalie.

Gibson is pretty overrated and he's been declining for 3 seasons. There's no chance you get that ask from any team.

I don't think so, you're not getting a projected top 10-15 D man, top 10-15 Center and a first for your declining goalie approaching 30 who has statistically been one of the worst goalies the last two years who also has an NMT.

There's no bidding war, there's a trend he's going in the wrong direction. If this is 2016, sure, maybe that's the ask. But right now Gibson's value is at an all-time low. Newhook + prospects + picks is your haul there.

I think if he can be had at the right price, with the way the Avs d is locked up, AND if you can get them to eat enough of that salary for 5 million, it's fine, probably projects as a slightly better Grubauer, we love it.

I think Ana's FO differs from their fans, I think they'd know that his value is an all-time low, and that Byram isn't on the table. Byram's value is higher than Gibson's at this point lmao.

Agree to disagree I suppose.
