I’m heartbroken, but thanks for everything Phil. Wish the Habs had matched that offer. He’s going to be an incredible mentor for LA’s young centers.

Sad to see Danault gone, but he got paid about a million more than he's worth. All the best in LA

Why do the Kings need a center for that long? they have like a million good prospects there and Kopitar

Great signing. The cap will start going up again once their younger guys get paid and with Kopitar being up in 3 years, the timing should be just right.

That’s a very good contract, will slot in nicely on the 2nd line maybe 3 if Byfield is great, LA is starting to get closer to dark horse contenders

Solid signing for being a 2/3 C when LA hits their window in 2-3 years.

Damn, I feel sick to my stomach. You’ll be missed Phil. Part of one of the best lines in hockey for 2 years, Montréal’s 1C for the last 4. There’s been some great times, and the playoff run this year was magical. I wish you all the best in LA. This definitely hurts the most out of any players the habs have lost in my time as a fan.

I was thinking the same thing. Danault is a good middle 6 center, but he's still not worth that kind of money

unless there’s some underlying statistic that presents him better than his point total…how is this a good contract?

How many centres did the lightning have on their roster these past 2 years?

He's an Elite defensive centers, one of the best in the league. He creates great offense but can't finish. He's ideally worth about 4.5 Million

I see you didn’t watch a single game of Montréal’s playoffs this year.
