I'd be hesitant to trade Pinto AND Greig. Ottawa a a deep vein of other pieces like Jarventie or Thomson I'd be more comfortable moving

Buffalo is losing leverage. Teams are losing cap space today. Ottawa would be a player with their cap if Eugene Melnyk wasnt the owner. Sabres better get cracking soon.

Why does everyone seem to think the Sabres have to trade him before the season starts? They don’t. Teams are not willing to meet the Sabres asking price, so I expect they hang onto him until he is back healthy and playing to his normal level of capability. When someone is willing to meet the Sabres asking price that’s when you’ll see a trade. They are not going to sell him for less than he is worth just to get rid of him, unless He’s never going to play again. And I am pretty sure that unless he can pass a physical nobody is going to trade for him.

Both Pinto and Greig combined reaching their full potential would still be nowhere near Eichel.

Yeah that's not really the point. From a trade value perspective I don't think there's much difference between Greig and a Jarventie or Thomson, but from an Ottawa perspective the C prospect pool without Greig and Pinto is basically just Zack Ostapchuk. I just think it's a better idea for Ottawa to spread what they give across all positions. It's also probably better for Buffalo as well. I'd honestly throw in a couple extra picks if it makes a difference just to swap Greig for Jarventie to secure the long term 3C slot.
