No reason you should. Now you do.

If he has a good accountant, he should be able to swindle his way to paying significantly less than the top 37% tax rate.

Congrats to Brayden point on being tied for the highest paid player in the league

Federal taxes exist though. Point is making a little over $6m. Unless I'm wrong about something.

If it wasn't for him, Dallas could've maybe beat them last year in the finals. He's one of my favourite players in the league, and I hope he ends up winning a Conn Smythe which he was robbed in 2020.

Tampa has 0% income tax* does it not?

Also I forgot that Bobrovsky makes 10 Million, so he's the highest paid player in the league lmao

That's state income tax (Florida), but he still owes Federal income tax to the IRS

Great contract and signing. Seems pretty clear though now that Tampa is gonna have to blow up quite a bit soon. Stamkos is gonna be on his way out within the next year or two.

For all the Stamkos haters HE'S GOING NO WHERE!! His entire contract has a full NMC and us BUYOUT PROOF . His base pay is only $1,000,000 the rest is guaranteed bonuses not subject to buyout,do TB would only save 667 k in salary cap space. Stamkos repeatedly has stated he wants to be the first lifelong bolt He isn't waiving

How many teams could have back-to-back championships and have one guy lead the league in points both years (Kucherov) and a guy lead the league in goals both years (Point) and neither of them win the Conn Smythe either year? Insane

He's worth every penny and a whole lot more pennies, but our team next year is genuinely going to be Stamkos, Kucherov, Point, Cirelli, Killorn, Hedman, McDonagh, Sergachev, Cernak, Vasilevskiy, and 10 guys making no more than $1m. Serious question—is that enough to contend? The Oilers are living proof that a couple of stars on a team without depth don't make you a contender, but that's more than just a couple of stars and we have stars in every position (though McDonagh's ability to maintain a high level of play throughout his contract is probably going to be a massive question mark). But there's still no depth behind it at all unless our front office keeps creating talented young players out of thin air.

Potential HHOFer IMO. Solid 200 foot game, can pile up the points with Kucherov. I think he’ll get a 3rd cup before he calls it a career. One of the best 3rd round picks ever too

I'm really wonder how they will manage the cap for 22-23. maybe exchange palat for an entry level?

For the 100th time. The tax thing is way overblown. Read this. https://www.forbes.com/sites/ryanlake/2019/03/07/mark-stone-hits-the-tax-jackpot-in-vegas/?sh=4dba022e748c

Palat's on his last year. He either signs for cheap or he walks. We'd have Point ($9.5m), Kucherov ($9.5m), Stamkos ($8.5m), Cirelli ($4.8m), Killorn ($4.45m), Hedman ($7.875m), McDonagh ($6.75m), Sergachev ($4.8m), Cernak ($2.95m), and Vasilevskiy ($9.5m). That's $68.625m for 10 roster spots, leaving $13m-$14m available for the next 10 depending on how the cap changes. We will likely find another cheap veteran backup for somewhere in the $900k range, extend Foote for a similar amount for 2-3 years, and use Bogosian or Thomas at $850k. Bellemare, ABB, Colton, Joseph, Katchouk, Raddysh, Smith, and Stephens are forward options right now, though we might find someone else cheap. But that's the direction I think we're going, and I'm curious if that's "enough" depth to win a Cup.

I have absolutely nothing against Stamkos. I want him to finish his career in Tampa. I was happy when he got his cup. But it doesn't change the fact that he isn't the team's number 1 center anymore and is incredibly injury prone. Regardless of base pay, his cap hit each year $8.5 mil. Between him, Kuch, Vasy, Hedman, and now Point, the Lightning are gonna have some cap issues in the near future. They're running into Toronto territory of top heavy contracts that don't leave much room for depth.

LMAO so you think "no state income tax" means no income tax at all?

Interesting theory ... Imma try it on the IRS.

The Stamkos thing though is really the lightning have no options they CAN'T trade him they CAN'T waive Him And if they buy him out he is still a 7.8 million dollars cap hit instead of 8.5 so buying him out is useless

True. The point I'm getting at is that he is the most expendable player to help ease their cap situation in the coming years... but they can't touch him. To me, It's identical to the Toronto situation, where Tavares is probably the most expendable. Stammer should be traded to some random team, but they can't do anything. They're gonna have to have an honest talk with him soon.
