We wait. Benning hasn’t been bad this offseason
7/10 for Benning unless Pettersson somehow ends up wearing a different Jersey in October

I'm leaning towards trying out Jason Demers on the right but with the contract we gave Poolman we seem to think he'll be a guy for us. Best case scenario he turns out to be the next Chiarot, but more likely he just stays as Poolman.

If you want to go that route I'd be happy too. We really desperately need two 2 men on the same pairing that can defend. Haven't really had that since Edler Tanev pairing. I would think we'd be looking to move Bones if we go that route ad I think we could get something interesting back for him, at around the value of a 2nd round pick. We'd probably need to showcase him in some sheltered minutes first.

Am also hoping we can add either Danton Heinen to play with Dickenson on a shut down line or Pius Suter to push Pearson down. In that case, and what I think is more likely anyway, we need to bridge Hughes cheaper. That deal you have for him is great but doesn't seem likely, especially after the monstrous contracts Makar and Heiskanen just signed. I don't see Quinn as a comparable to those guys, but apparently he and his agent do.

After all the signings, I’m really hoping and I think that Hughes and Pettersson contracts are already agreed upon and are waiting for finalization. Doubt Benning would sign all these guys without having a plan to fit our RFAs in.

Agree with everything you mentioned. Signing a guy like Ryan Murray is essential so he can form a shutdown pair with Poolman. One other thing I would like for the Canucks to address though is to go after a gritty bottom 6 player who brings some sandpaper in the lineup but that can also be done at the trade deadline. We'll see what happens

Yeah, if only we had a young power forward with wheels, size, a great shot, at under $3 million, who we developed in house...

it would be a shame if such a player existed and threw it all away because his IQ was in the single digits

Let's hope Gadjovich can fill that void though eh?

For sure. He was very, very slow in his small cameo. Khaira might have been a good option? Or else maybe MacEwan can figure it out but I'm not sure. I don't know what the plan with Costmar is but I love him haha
