I'd love to see Salo get a shot at LD but I've got a feeling 2 to 3 weeks in the job will be Hickeys. In the 2 to 3 games he played last year he wasn't great but he wasn't terrible either. We all know how Barry and Lou love their vets. Unless Lou has something up his sleeve I'm beginning to think this may be the plan, since all the decent d-man have been taken already. The guys making 2.5 million he should earn his pay check anyways in my opinion.

That's a decent amount to get a top-4 LHD. The Islanders are not in a discouraging position. There are still options out there (Dunn, Soucy, Lindholm, R. Murray, de Haan, Simek). Once Parise and Palmieri are announced, everyone will take a huge sigh of relief.

I agree, with Varlamov likely staying Sorokin will have to sacrifice a little money.

I don't understand what happened with Hickey. I feel terrible for him.

Dobson happened. He was too young for Bridgeport and they felt like he wouldn't learn as much going back to juniors, so Hickey was moved to make room for him.

No, I know what happened in terms of the numbers game, I'm just disappointed he never got to play again except for those couple of games. He's better than waiver fodder. He's as good a bottom pairing guy as there is in the NHL.

I agree which makes me think he's the guy they're rolling with. Unless Lou has another plan in place. He honestly didn't play that badly in the games he did get in to. I personally still wouldn't trust him and think they should keep looking for a steadier d-man, but that's just my opinion.

Oh and to answer your question Dobson came back from his co-vid hiatus.
