This is pretty risky

He is a capable but has not carried a massive workload even with the Sabers. Plus considering Swayman is the backup things could get dicey

I like this signing a lot for the Bruins. The Ullmark-Swayman tandem is gonna be nasty.

That's a rich contract. I'm surprised he got 5M.

This seems like a signal that Rask is gone...I wonder where he ends up. Maybe Colorado?

With an actual team infront of him, he’ll do well.

After watching how goalies contracts have aged, both good and bad, I've essentially come to the conclusion that any goalie contract over 3 years is automatically bad.

For example: Gibson should have won back to back vezinas and has been completely mediocre the last 2 straight years and no where worth his contract.

Has ullmark been good? Sort of. He was alright on an awful Buffalo squad. Will he be good next year? Literally no one knows because goalies are voodoo.

For this money and term, that's an easy no

Most likely he is gonna retire, but anything can happen.

Remember when Lehner left Buffalo and became one of the best goalies in the league? Don't know if he'll be as good as Lehner or even better, but I have a good feeling here for Ullmark. It'll do wonders playing in front of Buffalo for a few years for when you actually have a team in front of you.

They're going to be 1a 1b for as long as it takes for Swayman to prove what he is.

What Boston has been doing to Buffalo isn't fair frown

First, Taylor Hall

And, now their starting goalie.

Exactly. If a goalie is good in Buffalo, they will likely be better on any other team

in general its risky but probs once Rask comes back in February we see Ullmark/Rask unless Swayman really proves himself

If he comes back in February after his surgery, I see Ullmark making for some tasty trade bait

No idea what he's done to be worth this type of money except play minutes. He's fine, but I have no indications that he's even above average, which this deal heavily implies. Rask is one of the best handful of goalies in the league. The difference is going to be brutal. I think Boston will launch a rebuild within two years at this point, and this signing might well be the tipping point.
