I wish Sakic wouldve done this. Vladar would be a good number 3 for this year and potentially replace Francouz/Kuemper/whoever-the-Avs-trade-for next year

BOS would've lost Vladar to waivers so this was a smart move. Good value for Flames as a 2G.

If Colorado only paid a 6th round pick for Jonas Johansson, then that's what Calgary should have paid for Vladar.

I voted for the Boston Bruins.

Fair deal. Valdar at worst is am NHL back-up with good size at 6'5. Still a little raw, but has the upside of a solid 1B

I honestly didn't expect Vladar to fetch a 3rd, if Vladar pans out then it's fair but for right now edge to BOS

Guess this is the Flames backup plan. Great for the Bruins to acquire a 3rd round pick for him since they could've lost him on waivers a few months ago.

I mean I dont think vladar is ready just yet but I guess it's now or never with this deal. It's too bad theycouldnt stash him in Providence 1 more year.

I wish Sakic wouldve done this. Vladar would be a good number 3 for this year and potentially replace Francouz/Kuemper/whoever-the-Avs-trade-for next year

He's waivers eligible. I suspect someone with an injury in training camp would take him when someone Colorado tried to waive him. I suppose they have the cap room to just carry him as a third goalie but at this stage of development you want him playing

You CGY fans are gonna love Vladar; he should have no trouble beating Werner out for the backup spot.

I really don't like this from BOS's standpoint; I think they should've trusted Swayman as the starter and Vladar as the backup. I guess they figured one young goalie was enough, but they could've gotten a little more for Vladar imo.

And regular season. Last 2 games he has started Flames won by a combined score of... 8-0. He also has a. 933 and a 1.96. Pretty good numbers.

sample size so small i wouldnt exactly judge a deal based on 5 regular season games. buoyed heavily by shutouts vs the sens (lol) and bruins (b2b after not playing in a full week).

Not sure why you're trying to justify Calgary having any sort of advantage yesterday. Calgary was on the second half of a back to back as well, and the several days of rest would have only benefited Boston. Calgary was also playing their 3rd game in 4 nights, all on the road, with travel, and Boston had home ice advantage. There was honestly no reason for Calgary to win that game yesterday, but Vladar played well and they did. Yes it's a small sample size, but there's no denying that he's been good so far, and he's played well against some good teams, generally on the second half of a back to back, where the Flames are at best in the same situation as their opponent, usually at a disadvantage (beat Washington and Boston, only let in 2 goals against Toronto, secured the win against New Jersey and Ottawa like you want your backup to do).

boston played a back to back after not playing any hockey in a week. that extended rest doesnt help anybody getting any rhythm, or solid ice legs. ask guys if theyd rather play 4 in 7 or 3 in 8 where games 1 and 2 are 6 days apart.
