Not sure why Seattle didn't just ask for a 2nd to not select Vanecek in the first place. Then they could have taken someone else from Washington.

I’m pretty sure they didn’t know Grubauer was leaving COL

Francis doesn’t really seem to have a good grip on asset management and how this expansion thing works… I’m totally fine with this though.

Really wish the Jets had just sent a later pick over for Schultz then Dillon, Chevy likes paying for other teams problems like Eakin, Stastny, Dillon and Schultz.

I wouldn’t call Dillon a problem except for the fact that we couldn’t afford his cap hit. His contract is more than fair, given some of the terrible contracts given out today. But we we’re cap strapped. Agree however that Chevy overpaid.

It was an overpayment but I’m not sure I agree that Dillon is a problem, like you said he’s well worth his deal, Washington just couldn’t afford him anymore.

Well, I get that but if you couldn't afford his cap hit he was a problem.

Don't get me wrong, Dillon will help but he's an older version of Stanley and Samberg, don't get why the need for a guy when there's two in house options who are cheaper to pay and cost nothing to acquire.

Schultz would've been a better pickup for the Jets imo.

I think its just semantics at this point. We both agree he’s a decent defenseman and that the contract isn’t terrible by any means, but our cap situation was a problem for us.

Agree that Schultz could’ve made more sense especially since you guys got Schmidt right after the Dillon trade.

The more I think about these two deals the less I like them, I just don't get what they're doing with Heinola and Samberg plus the cap issues this creates next season is concerning.

Nothing, we just can't really afford him.
