Carey Price scored 0 goals last year. He sucks, right?

Goal totals don't account for the value that Danault provides.

You made me chuckle, well played.

Also, as a habs fan, I would make that deal. To make it fair, LA retains 500k. Otherwise, Toffoli is underpaid and Danault is overpaid. 3M fixes it.

That may be the dumbest comparison I’ve ever heard. What’s wrong with comparing two forwards? Oh yeah your counter argument is comparing a forward with a goalie…………… Danault is an all defence type player and honestly, goals are more important in forwards. Montreal has solid defence so this trade doesn’t make any sense.

Danault was one of the main reasons why Montreal had solid defense. There should be 18 players on every team playing defense every game, not just 6.

Toffoli happened to play on Montreal’s PK for a reason… he is also defensively responsible…

I know. I watched him play in LA for the better part of a decade. Toffoli is no Danault when it comes to defense.

Danault is one of the few centers in the league that are as good defensively as Anze Kopitar, Sasha Barkov, and Patrice Bergeron. He doesn't have their offensive flair, but having him as an option on the PK and for defensive zone faceoffs frees up the guys I mentioned to spend more time in the offensive zone.

Danault isn’t in Montreal for a reason. He didn’t want to stay there. Toffoli is still a better player and the Montreal Canadiens are not in a dire need for defensive forwards…

Danault isn't in Montreal because LA offered him more money. He's also one of the main reasons why Montreal made it to the Stanley Cup Finals this season. Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner combined for 1 goal in a 7 game series. Winnipeg's top line was completely neutralized. Mark Stone was completely shut down. That was Danault's doing.

Every team needs a guy like that. This trade was more for comedic purposes, but is theoretically a decent idea for LA since they already have Kopitar and will be adding Byfield, Turcotte, and Vilardi to the mix down the middle very soon.
