You won't be getting all that for a rental in JVR.... Good try though.

JVR isn't a rental here. Anaheim has a ton of young defensemen and they need help up front, especially on the left wing. Van Riemsdyk would be a perfect fit in the Ducks' system, and Toronto needs help on the blue line, especially on the right side. Montour addresses that need. they have to take Thompson's contract to balance salary (which hasn't been a problem for the Leafs in the past), and they also get a first round pick back.

Montour isn't going anywhere soon... Stick to the Flyers, because you truly do not know what you're talking about.

So, ANA loses their 1st rd pick for JVR. Also a stud D-man in Montour and a vet in Thompson.... Vatanen would be the guy getting traded in this situation. You want Montour, you have to be willing to give up more than him. He's been showing great as of late and he isn't going anywhere. Plus, BM isn't going to trade a pick on this trade.

OK so lets just say your right, what would be the cost for Montour then? McDavid? Matthews? Five 1st round picks?

My goodness, yes he may be really young and talented but until he comes into the team and plays 80 games and scores 50 pts he's still a prospect which is an unknown commodity in the end. Your making projections for a player but until he does it, they are just that, projections. He is not a sure thing like a Crosby. He may still yet become a nobody who plays the rest of his career in the AHL. That is a possibility whether you like it or not. Plenty of players have put up great numbers in the AHL and then never really made a significant impact at the NHL level. Adam Clendening for example.

Only one player on the entire Anaheim team has as many goals as JVR has at the same amount of games throughout out their career. Corey Perry and JVR actaully has more points then any Anaheim player currently this season. I'm don't even like JVR that much or am I even a Leaf fan but you have to give respect where its due. He would easily cost a Montour and 1st rounder. So what if he's a pending UFA, sign him then. Not that hard....... most teams keep their big name free agents.

The worst thing is that I totally get if you would of said he's not what we're looking for for that return. Maybe you'd prefer to get a young expansion protectable player instead. That make sense. But saying he's not worth that return? Come on!

The guy doesn't understand that though. You aren't going to be able to low ball a team for their young D-man.

I understand completely...every D man on Anaheim is Bobby Orr. Fowler was being traded for a bag of pucks at the start of the year and now he is Bobby Orr. Vatanen has regressed offensively but he is still Bobby Orr! Manson has scored in back to back games = Bobby Orr! Montour, played 12 NHL games = Bobby Orr! Shea Theodore, now playing in the AHL but he played 30 NHL games this year = Bobby Orr!

Typical Philly fan. LOL. Someone tells you no and you get all butthurt. It's okay, you tried stealing Weber from NSH and it didn't work. You got our sloppy seconds from Prongs after he was good and gave up a lot for him. Signed Bryz to a stupid contract and did nothing for you (another sloppy second) I can see why you are jealous now, you never get any good players. It's okay, I also see you can't comprehend very well either. No one ever stated Montour or the rest of the defense was Bobby Orr. We just stated that trade would never happen for Montour.

I see why most people hate fans from the Flyers. They are all arrogant and ignorant. Good job at proving that once again.

Every trade someone makes for one of your D, you rip them apart and tell them "nope, not enough" You also understand that Pronger was very good for the Flyers right? You are definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Pierre Lebrun reported that Toronto would have to give up JVR a pick and another asset to get Montour on his own.

So no way they get all this with JVR...bad trade. I could see a straight Vatanen for JVR trade happening though.
