No Move Clauses are Waived

Created by: HOCKEYBOY448
Team: 2023-24 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 29, 2021
Published: Jul. 29, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Pretty much going all in on youth down the middle, bolstered by solid depth on the wings. Clearly we’ve seen NMC can be waived which is assumed here with retention to create room. I don’t really care about the return hence future considerations, but at $3.65 mil Kreider is worth something and same with Trouba at $4.25 mil. Just curious to see how the lines might look in a few years if we don’t keep Mika or go after Eichel. Call me crazy but I really like the Korczak pick and praying he becomes something special in a few years. It’s still pretty tight the following years if the cap continues to stay flat at $81.5 mil. Let me know what you think.

Detroit accepts and we'll figure out our glut of RHD later.

I mean I’d hope so. Obviously in a real trade with that kind of retention we’d get something back, but for the purpose of this, I’m just trying to get a sense of our future cap situation.

Yeah it’s just tough with the flat cap and all the young guys to resign cause I’d love to keep Mika, Kreids and Trouba long term but tough decisions lie ahead. Plus this organization doesn’t shy away from making big trades or buyouts so anything is on the table in all honesty.

Except Boston currently has just over $1 million in cap space and don't need another left shot winger

It doesnt make a difference. When youre offered a deal like this you take it and figure out the logistics later. Kreider and debrusk would be have the exact same cap hit. So you can move debrusk, plus you get a net front guy on the pp.

And DeBrusk is more than likely on the move once Krejci re-signs.

Ok. My point is when you get offered a deal at that value you take it and figure out logistics some other time.

Well Boston would be over the cap without any logical pieces to move put and honestly they'd have no where to put Kreider. Guys signed for 6yrs more and OP is giving him with retention sarcasm

Its true. Rn there isnt any open spot for him, but i feel like if this was offered to sweeney, how does he turn it down. Thats just negligence.

Pretty easy. Let say Boston trades DeBrusk for futures and brings in Kreider for the amount above for nothing. Boston would have about $2.8 million to re-sign Krejci, which isn't enough.

Agreed. But that value is crazy. Youd have the perfection line, hall-?(krejci)-smith, kreider-coyle/haula-coyle/foligno. Youd have 4 3rd liners amd 1 of them doesnt have a spot. Rn if you trade debrusk youre good and if you get kreider youd have to move 1 of foligno, coyle, or haula. Moving a fa that qas just signed isnt ideal in any way but it does make your team better. Anyway this is all hypothetical bc kreider isnt waiving and drury would never offer this. (Its also funny that the 1 team that has a logjam is the one he was traded to lol).

If your trade just DeBrusk you're still not good. Coyle has a NTC and you're paying to get rid of his contract right now after the year he had. As you said it also is not ideal (and it would make the franchise look awful to future UFA's) to trade a guy they just signed yesterday.

I mean moore could be moved also. But yeah this doesnt happen irl. Maybe they talk to foligno and work out a deal to send him to MIN to play with his brother (so it wont look so bad). Either way i was getting real scared about this team, but if they dont move jake and have hall-coyle-smith and JD-EH-NF they wont be as scary. You better hope sweeney can admit his 2015 mistake and move on.

My guy this is in 2 years, when you have plenty of cap space. I literally looked at the team’s cap picture before making the deal.

My guy there are a lot of factors that you can't even begin to take into consideration 2yr from now, but what I do know is that Pasta will need a new deal, as will McAvoy. Bergeron may return or retire, but either way you'll need to spend some money to bring in a replacement for Bergeron. The cap space can get eaten up real quick and Kreider at 32yr old with the style he plays will be on the decline, which makes it even worse.

I figured you’d mention Pasta and McAvoy who combined on their next deals I doubt make more than $24 mil. Leaves you about $19-20 mil with Kreider to sign a top center and fill out the rest of the roster. These are flat cap numbers (meaning cap stays at $81.5 mil).

And Bergeron needs a new deal or you need his replacement which won't be cheap. Again cap gets eaten quickly.
