Well they aren’t. Pettersson doesn’t have a bad contract. He is a young top 4 d and the going rate for that is over 4 million in cap. So he actually has a decent contract. And being that he is signed through most of his prime and has yet to hit his prime yet means he’s likely to improve and that contract could become a steal.

Debrusk doesn't have a bad contract. We aren't trading him for pucks either

And Boston doesn't need another LHD unless it's a legit 1LD. Pens fans talk about how good MP is but he's in majority of PIT ACGM's.

Well isn’t the idea to trade value to get value in return??? I mean I’m sure the pens would much rather trade a legit cap dump for value. But that’s not really how it works.

But why trade a good young top 4 LHD? They don't grow on trees.

Just doesn’t make sense for BOS in my mind. I personally wasn’t a fan of Pettersson last year - he only averaged 16:30ish minutes a night, he didn’t put up great point totals, and he averaged less than a minute a game on the kill. I mean they just Reilly and Forbort, so if they were to trade DeBrusk for a LHD i think it would be Jake in a package for a guy who’s a legit upgrade from Reilly/Forbort. Or they are gonna trade Jake in order to have room for Krejci.

Because we have Dumoulin and Matheson too. Then POJ who is ready to take a spot. When you have 5 nhl calibre lhd, then you need to trade one lol. So it makes sense to trade from a position of strength to upgrade a position of weakness. It’s double good when you can even get cap space too.

Its triple good when you try and move them to a team that actually needs the piece your trying to move. Boston has a lot of LHD that play a similar role to MP

Well to be fair, I never said the trade made sense from Boston’s perspective either lol.
