Wow...you realize that are hypothetical free agency signings - of course he is in MTL now. Good for you. W. Steal.

Aside from that he was linked to Toronto. Like Haula.

This roster shows what could had happen if Toronto don´t went 4-4-1 and Dubas could negotiate like Bergevin and Sweeny.

Reimer is a placeholder. You can fill in any cheaper goalie from the UFA singnings: Raanta, Halak, Holtby....

And to anticipate: the players on LTIR are not injured - they just would not be Leafs in this scenario.

Mighty large gamble to take. There are 32 teams in the NHL and how many Ufa d would have been able to replace Holl for anywhere near the same cost.

            Savard, sure
Larsson (we didn't know he was going to sign with Seattle when making our list)

            Anyone else?

Ignoring that both could have been predicted to end up costing 3.5+ which they did (so an extra 1.5-2 mil cost), we had to hope we could have signed one of two options? Seems like a huge gamble

You are right - It would have been a really huge gamble.

And TDA and Ceci would not have been good options at all.

I just find it interesting what would have been possible. So much "would".

Nevertheless I like the addition of Mrazek and Bunting. Not sure about Kämpf. Shutdown 3rd D needs fulfilled. But depth scoring... boy oh boy. Kerfoot can finally switch to the wing. Or Dubas mess about the plan not trading anyone and surprising us with a move. I would love to see McCann back.

Savard took less to sign in Montréal. So you wouldn’t be able to afford him.

Savard immediately wanted to go to Montreal when it was announced that Weber would be out and insiders were saying that Savard to MTL was basically a sure thing, he even took a pet cut to sign here. Why would he go to Toronto lmao
