Initial Creation Date: Jul. 29, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know it makes no sense to have Forbort as the 7th D despite paying him $3M on the cap, but this team still needs a 1LHD. The Bruins still need Krejci back even with all the depth signings they made yesterday. His deal includes performance bonuses for games played,
Let me know how far off the trade is.

Ya Forbort would play over Clifton and that is a significant overpay.

It seems to be the going rate for top-tier d-men. Look at the Jones, Ristolainen, etc. trades. Yes, Forbort would play over Clifton, but Cassidy doesn't like playing guys on their off sides.

Lauzon, Clifton, Moore have done it a lot under Cassidy and Forbort has played a lot on his offside.

I think he does it out of necessity. The bigger issue is if the Bruins can still bring in a guy like Lindholm and bring back Krejci.

Oh i know. I just don’t know if DK wants back.

I would not be averse to moving Debrusk and Grizz in a package for an LD1 either.

I think with Reilly they've made Grzelcyk expendable. I'd be surprised to see him go tho. And yeah it'd suck if Krejci doesn't come back. He's far and above Coyle, Haula, or Studnicka.

I think the real issue at LD1 is finding one available. Lindholm is the obvious choice at this point. 1 year left coming off injury rebuilding team. Werenski if Columbus feels they can’t re-sign him, though Jarmo does not seem to care about that. Other than that…don’t see much.

Agreed. There wasn't much on the UFA market this year. The best options were taken before FA even started. I'm glad they didn't drastically overpay someone, but it still seems like their biggest hole during the playoffs (shutdown D-man) was not addressed at all, so I can't see this team being better than in years past.

Forbort is a shut down guy. Just not a 25 mins guy.

I don’t know, this team is the anti Leafs. Built for playoffs as opposed to the regular season now. Got a lot better in the bottom 6. As much as i like Lauzon, Forbort is an upgrade at the moment. Key as always is being healthy in the playoffs and not having to use 9th, 10th d men.

As long as McAvoy and Carlo are healthy they should survive until they run into Tampa or NYI.
