I don't think kassian is moveable unless he starts doing well and then why would they Trade Him? It would likely be Koskinen with Money retained instead.

The Rangers apparently have interest in Kassian, and I can see us giving the Sharks a pick instead of retained salary, they aren't making the playoffs and need to meet the cap floor so retaining would do nothing for them.

Lagesson is a # 7D and koskinen is about 2 million overpaid he's a backup goaltender who will give you a .910 when played 30 games a Year. Edmonton played him like 11 games in a row because they had no backup due to him being claimed on Waivers and a Mike Smith injury.

SJ doesn't want another goalie, especially a cap dump.

You guys literally have 1 goalie, also you would be getting a young d man. Koskinen can also play good when he has a good goalie with him

I mean say what you will but Koskinen still has negative value. He put up decent numbers for a guy making league min...except he's making 4.5M. Plus we already have 2 better goalies. Just don't get why any team (especially SJ) would want to go after him, unless the Oilers are paying someone to take him.

I think there is a very high chance kosk returns and I personally think that’s the best option right now. As much as people like to point to that as our weakness reality is it hasn’t been an issue. It’s far more complicated and difficult to address now and the only guys really left available are questionable improvement.

I don't think they have the budget for a 5 million dollar goaltender next year. maybe 3.5 million from My Figuring till 23-24. I think they pick up somebody like Greiss at the Deadline and try to extend him 1 year.

All of the goalies left in free agency are worse than Koskinen. They'll all be cheaper, but none are as good.

I’m not even sure will be that much cheaper once factor in any retention involved in moving kosk out to make room for someone else. My only issue with kosk is more towards coaching staff and how the starts get split. Some goalies I think fair to include kosk in this mix needs regular action to stay sharp not really designed to play a game every week or two.

Tippett was doing 2-on, 2-off in 2019-20, that seemed to work for both guys. I don't see the Oilers making any goaltending changes this summer now, I think they go with a Smith-Koskinen tandem. It should work just fine.

Keeping things as they are with kosk for his final year allows skinner another year in ahl if he plays as strong next year as this past one might see a smith skinner tandem once kosk deal expires. By making any move on goaltending front either investing enough assets that create a commitment to acquired goalie or bringing in a guy with term. I personally don’t like either of those options right now. Goaltending has not been an issue wouldn’t really call a strength it’s not good enough to get the cup but neither is the teams depth yet rushing to correct this area will lead to a costly mistake in my opinion. Trust in kosk wasn’t long ago nearly every oilers fan wanted him to be the starter and smith be dropped off at some random farm miles outside city limits.

From the time Smith returned to the lineup (Feb 8th) to the end of April, the Oilers played 38 games. If you filter min 10GP you'll see that Koskinen was 5th in the NHL with a .929 sv% while Smith was T-9th with a .924 sv%. They make a very nice tandem when they're getting proper rest and practice time.

I could honestlly see a scenario where koskinen gets a 1 Year extension for 2.5 Million. They won't be able to afford a free agent next year.
