If I'm not seeing things, that's a one-way contract. I'm not sure how much he'll provide in the NHL, but good for Luke. He's been a great captain for Syracuse.
He's more than likely the replacement for McIlrath, a depth guy that can be a leader in the AHL and get called up if the Wings need him. He's been with the organization before, and he's been with organizations run by Yzerman for most of his career, so it's good that both parties are familiar with each other. Hopefully Wit can provide us with some grit!

It's a two-way contract, but I wouldn't be surprised if he plays 7th D in the NHL. He played 65 games in the two years he was with the Wings before (never played for Grand Rapids, actually), so it's possible he stays up the entire time.
It's his attitude he loves the game and still gets excited over the little things he just loves hockey. With a lot of prospects starting to come through Detroit's system he is a good player to have.
