Detroit passes, Berggren's ceiling should be in the Nyquist /Tatar range a 50 point player.

What’s so funny? Berggren is a solid asset that stylistically compliments guys like Zadina, Raymond, and Vrana. The cap is doing you a massive favor being able to re-sign Krejci.

You lol but Bertuzzi has put up better numbers then Debrusk on the worst scoring team in the NHL. I wouldn't even move Bertuzzi for Debrusk let alone our young scoring winger in Jonatan Berggren who i think will be even better then Tyler Berttuzi.

82 game average

Debrusk 22-23-45

Bertuzzi 21-28-49

I’d say same numbers and that is despite a horrible year by Debrusk factored in. But whatever.

Now? Maybe we should find out if DK wants to come back first. Last I heard he had not made that decision. If he had they would have signed him already.

Once again i rest my case, Bertuzzi averaging 49 points per season on the worst scoring team in the NHL. While DeBrusk is averaging 45 points per season on average on one of the top scoring teams in the NHL major difference there.

So have you not grasped the concept that on weaker teams sometime there is more offensive opportunity?

You could also argue QoC on stronger teams favors second/third liners. It would be different if the teams GF is much closer.

Lol, Boston is not high scoring. You should go look.

I’d take Bertuzzi over Debrusk all day everyday for other reasons. That argument does not hold water unless he was playing with HS cheerleaders for linemates. Debrusk wasn’t playing with the big boy line either. He got DK and no RW most nights.

How much PP time do you think bertuzzi would get in boston?

Why are we even talking about bertuzzi?

Quality of competition, it’s why p/60 doesn’t create a linear relation with ice time. It typically over inflates because you’re not facing the defensive studs of the league. His production isn’t over inflated by PP as he’s using screening and Disco Dan was our PP coach the past few years which is why we went like 55 straight scoreless PPs. Not sure how Bert came up just pointing out your post which mentioned him.

I don't know what makes Debrusk so special Bertuzzi put half his point last season in 9 games.

I work in analytics for a Fortune 500 company so I understand them pretty well. Not necessarily all of the hockey ones but most don’t anyway when you ask relevant questions.

Alright. I just don’t care to talk about it. I think they’re utterly useless when it comes to hockey. It’s a subjective sport.

I think a ton of them provide no direct correlation with wins. Look at the Dallas team that went to the finals, they didn’t have great analytics by any stretch. I hate when someone provides a JFresh chart as proof something is good/bad but I wouldn’t say their useless. Every NHL club has an analytics department but they key is not relying on them solely and using them in connection with your eye test.

Okay. That’s a very fair take and not what i was expecting. I think my biggest issue with them is its encouraged just totally disregarding the eye test. Like, “oh, this chart says Seth jones is bad, so he’s useless and no i didn’t watch him play and it doesn’t matter.” That kinda thing.

I think particularly as it pertains to d men it just doesn’t make sense to slap the charts on them. I played at a decently high level, and there were some d men that just couldn’t have what they do quantified.

Nice duck. But you are right hockey is a subjective sport but advanced stats can help a lot but when but have to be looked at the right way. Most the analytical guys here just look at the final number and think if its higher than the other player but all it shows is that one player plays for a better team than the other. Now most the people have read an article or two or had the basics explained to them so they don't realize they have to look at it through context. Someone who does this for a living understands how important the correct context is.

Bertuzzi is being mentioned in the entire thread, Dude wants Berggren for Debrusk who hasn't lived up to his status. Berggren will be a way better player then DeBrusk.
