Sabres decline, Benson is an AHLer. A 2nd probably would get it done but the Sabres arent shopping for more goalies

Benson has grow out from being an AHLer, he has been arguably the best AHLer for a few years now. it's time for the show for him. Benson has more value then a 2nd, he's more proven then any player that would get drafted a year from now and he's 3-4 years then that pick. Koskinen is better then BUF goalies, Anderson gets injured or retires before next season anyways, See Crawford for example.

Wrong. Lol just simply false. He easily plays in the top 6 in Buf. He's already better the Casey, whom happens to be a former 8th overall pick.

Benson is a career AHLer, he cant skate and was beat out by Kahun, Ennis, and Neal, injuries ruined his career. Hes not going to be anything more than a depth forward at best and is probably signing in the K or best case scenario he impressed a swiss team and gets a spot in that league. But by all means keep looking at his AHL points totals and pretend hes a superstar

Benson's skating is okay, but he lacks the explosiveness that is preferred at the NHL level. He was drafted with the understanding that he was going to be a long-term project and he has since improved year over year and now put together successive healthy seasons. He's likely going to get limited ice time with the Oilers, given Tippett's bias toward veterans and players he knows well.

I don't think he's a piece Buffalo would want as compensation for taking on a contract. Benson is the kind of player that makes sense for teams looking to shed, not add salary. He will be inexpensive and has enough skill to be a productive depth forward in the NHL.

This is probably the year in which his career will be defined, NHL or AHL.

He's still in his early 20s. Writing him off already is ridiculous. He's got average boots but excels in other areas. He didn't get "beat" out by any of those players, there are many factors that went into playing time, contracts, waiver etc. No one said he was going to be a superstar, but on BUFs roster he definitely does have a better chance of looking like a star.

Hes 23, he cant skate, he doesnt make Buffalos roster by a long shot, and hes going to Europe. Hes not an NHLer
