Description
Tatar and Murray are two guys who could round out the roster a bit. Sign each to 1x1 deals. Murray can be our 6/7 defenseman and is insurance for if Kempny isn’t ready to play full time due to his Achilles injury. Tatar is a guy who can be moved up and down the lineup and needs a chance to prove his value to get a bigger deal next summer. These are exactly the type of guys MacLellan would go after: Reclamation projects (see Connolly, Sprong, Richards, etc. in past years).

Also helps us be prepared for injuries, gives us flexibility on where wingers slot in. You can move most of the wingers around to different lines to give different looks and find chemistry.

Even on a prove-me deal, Tatar would get more than 1x1. The guy has been a huge part of one of the best lines in hockey and has 0.80 P/GP over the last three seasons.

I recognize he’s a solid middle six winger who could be looking for a 1 year deal. What do you think is a realistic contract for him? 1 year at 3m? Hoffman got 4.5m, Foligno got 3.8m, Saad got 4.5m

He should get what Hoffman last season on a one-year deal, $4M.

I’d start by firing your current GM and just go from there
