Trade Reilly

Created by: Jamesy
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 30, 2021
Published: Jul. 30, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I dont know what Reilly's value is, or who would trade for him, but the most important part of this is that Reilly is pretty expendable, and his cap hit can help open up space for a legit top 6 forward on the left side.

No offensive, but apparently you don't know what Kubalik's value is either because this certainly doesn't get him

Why wouldn't you trade Engvall for a late pick. Then you would have 4 million to get another good LW.

Spezza is way to old to play 3rd line minutes and shouldn't be on a checking line

Kerfoot will not play Center this year unless there are injuries. Dubas already said the Kampf signing moves someone to the wing, AKA Kerfoot. Kampf is a 3rd line shutdown center.

Engvall can and most likely will be buried in the minors rather than traded because he's a serviceable call up for injuries.

Rielly probably isn't being traded, and Dubas would likely be asking for a young defensive prospect in the return. That Dermott/Holl pairing is a complete liability and regresses the D progress made last year.

Spezza is coming off a good season and a solid playoffs. He needs more minutes than they were giving him last year. He is a solid veteran and can handle any role given to him. Plus, the days of the straight checking line are gone. The third line anymore needs to not be a liability defensively while giving the ability to sneak a goal in now and then. If you aren’t getting 20-30 goals from your 3rd line you will struggle.

So I guess you didn't watch the playoffs where the worst defenceman by a large margin for TO was Sandin. But let's put him into the top 4 and jettison who was our absolute best defenceman on the series against Montreal. Pretty sure Rielly wasn't on the ice for a single goal against. Sandin was to blame for several goals. Dermott out played him as well. Not saying Sandin won't grow and improve but to just hand him the keys is ridiculous.
