Our current list of wingers (11) :
- Drouin (top 9)
- Toffoli (top 6)
- Byron (bottom 6)
- Perreault (bottom 6)
- Lehkonen (bottom 9)
- Paquette (4th line)
- Gallagher (top 9)
- Anderson (top 6)
- Hoffman (top 9)
- Armia (bottom 9)
- Caufield (top 6)
- Ylonen (bottom 6)
As we see, on our 2 first lines, we have Toffoli, Anderson and Caufield, plus one of Drouin, Lehkonen, Gallagher or Hoffman. Personnally, I'd go with Drouin with Suzuki and Caufield, which would leave us Lehkonen, Gallagher, Hoffman, Byron, Perreault, Paquette, Ylonen and Armia for our bottom 6. If we all agree that Gallagher and Hoffman can't really go on a 4th line, this means they are on the 3rd line. We pay Armia 3,4M, Byron 3,4M and Lehkonen probably about 3M and there is only two spots left, which means one of those doesn't play, and Perreault, Paquette and Ylonen are our 10th, 11th and 12th wingers, then won't play very often.
I think it's safe to say we must trade one, and maybe 2. I don't think it's realistic to trade Caufield, Perreault, Paquette, Hoffman, Drouin, Gallagher and Armia (for different reasons). This leaves us Anderson, Toffoli, Byron, Lehkonen and Ylonen.
In term of value, Toffoli is probably the player we could get the most for, because he had a great year and is on a great contract. Byron could also go, but maybe we'd have to retain on his salary or give draft picks.
- I could see a trade with Seattle to get Dunn and McCann for Toffoli and Byron.
- Or with Vancouver for Myers and a draft pick.
- At New Jersey for Subban and Zacha.
- Maybe with NYI for Beauvillier and Mayfield, and I'd add Kulak from MTL side.
- Washington for Schultz and picks.
