Why is this realistic exactly? Have you looked at LA's defensive depth chart? Why would Boston retain to help the Leafs? And why are we still doing 20-man rosters? This is the furthest thing from realistic my friend.

That Debrusk deal with retention probably won’t work. Think they can get that price (and more) from a transitioning team (like CLB) without having to retain. It would be selling him at his lowest value — wouldn’t be surprised to see BOS give him a shot to increase his value before considering an in-season trade.

The Bruins are not trading to Debrusk to Toronto for a 2nd and retaining salary. Kid a bad stretch, despite being almost useless over the course of the last 20months, he is 24 and averaging 21.5 goals per 82 over his career.

He isn't a superstar and probably won't be, but he will be a pretty reliable 20-30 goal scorer. He needs a change of scenery, but A) the Bruins could get more B) They would take less for him not to go to Toronto C) teams will need to get to the floor so I can see Detroit throwing the Bruins two 2nds - playing him in a top 6 PP role and hopes he gets back to 27g in 68 games from two years ago and dealing him at the deadline for a 1st +.

I think it's funny that the justification for moving Dermott was always "He's a good player and we'd love to keep him, but Seattle is going to take him in the expansion draft, so we should get something for him."

Now the expansion draft is over and Dermott is still being moved in every other Leafs ACGM.

Well if you bothered to read what I wrote it says, "Any team". Which means it doesn't have to be LA I just happened to pick them, so any team that would likely trade a 4th which is his most likely return value. I truthfully don't think Boston gets what people seem to think they will for DeBrusk which is why they retain a SLIVER of his contract and get a 2nd in return.

Man you people are so ridiculously hyper-critical for no reason.
