can you explain me why?
With all the D signature it is clear that they need someone BIG at D in only 2years and NOrlinder is the right guy... same type of ceiling.
Mid 6 NHL in Lehky and depth C in Poehling is more than what you can get for Tierney... maybe I can add a 3rd!

There's just not enough value here for Ottawa to give up Brannstrom.

And we're giving him up to a division rival.

Hard pass frown

brannstrom is better than norlinder. The rest of the deal is swapping depth, and ottawa has no need for lehkonen (tkachuk-stutzle-formenton-paul on the LW) and poehling isn’t exactly better than pinto, greig, etc. You could have tierney for a 3rd if you want, but there’s nothing here that would tempt us to consider moving brannstrom

Because our D is garbage and could use some depth? Adding guys that can fill in holes/be scratches for a time and then get dealt (like Coburn/Gudbranson/Reilly last year)? You can never have too many D. That’s like saying Montreal doesn’t believe in Romanov because they signed David Savard. I would hope that Brannstrom-Zub would remain the second pair for Ottawa next year, but Brannstrom should remain in the lineup full time. If he doesn’t that’s a mistake.

I don't see how this makes any sense for Ottawa. Tierney for Poehling is a W, though I'm not overly convinced Poehling would be more than a 4th line C in Ottawa long term. Lehkonen is a very useful LW who can play on your 3rd or 4th line, but LWs who can play on your 3rd or 4th line is probably the thing Ottawa needs least organizationally, especially as part of the return for a top prospect.

What it comes down to is Brannstrom vs Norlinder, and that's way to big a gap to make sense for Ottawa. Norlinder is solid don't get me wrong, but he's not close to the upside of Brannstrom, and he's not close to his development and they're only like 6 months apart.

For Ottawa it doesn't make any sense to downgrade to a similar type prospect in exchange for guys who will play in the bottom of the lineup. They should target an impact NHL talent, or a high level prospect at a position of need.

so basically what you. are saying is ig a guy like KK is not involved... it is a Big NO
KK, NOrlinder, Byron for Tierney & Branns... should be closer?

Yeah, guys like Kotkaniemi or Vilardi would be where I would look. Easier to justify moving the top prospect you got for Mark Stone if you're doing it to bring a high end young player/prospect in return.

That said I have a bad feeling Ottawa is about to do something tremendously stupid. I'm scared they're about to drastically overpay for a non impact C like Strome or Monahan.
