Lol Ottawa is WAY better off with Watson at 1.5×2 vs Kassian at 3.2×3. Not even remotely close. I doubt anyone is touching that deal without 50% retained. Will be an Oiler for a long time

Hmm. I can see why they may decline, but I can also see why they may accept. Is your reason because of his cap hit?

Austin Watson is on a good contract with a smaller cap hit, less money and less term.

He can play on either wing and is a solid penalty killer.

Zach Kassian is a cap dump who is a healthy scratch on some nights and was injured for half the season.

The 5th and 7th round picks are just not very appetizing either.

I'm pretty sure we'll decline.

The term of the deal is more of a problem than the AAV

They both are honestly. For what he brings to the table, he is not worth 3.2M, and he’s not worth the years.

Hes not worth 3.2, but OTT could be compensated to pay 3.2

The problem is asking OTT to eat 3 years of term.

I know. The 3 years is rough, and it would also block some of their young guys from coming up.
