What I would like to see

Description
This is just what I would like to see happen. Gusev and Kase would give us some much needed right handed winger options and should be pretty cheap. I'm not set on them being given 2 year contracts either, I could easily see them on 1 year deals too. Both can compete with Boldy and make sure he’s earned a spot on the team, but gives us an extra 13th forward option either way. Much like Merrill's addition doesn't guarantee Addison a spot, in which the loser likely becomes the 7th dman.

I left a little wiggle room in the cap should we need it later. I also put Daemon Hunt on the Taxi squad because it no longer exists and he's going back to the CHL this year. O'Rourke still might as well. Rossi plays in the AHL but possibly could get called up once he’s settled in somewhat.

It's at the 57 minute (or so) of the Worst Seats in the House podcast on July 30th. It sounds like Russo is fed up. Russo suggested that GMBG offered 9M for 5 or 6 years and they said no... If so, that's a real problem. I can understand KK not doing the 8.5x8, but if he's not taking 9x5... We're in trouble here.

9mx5 is right at or just below market value for Kaprizov, so a fair offer. It sounds like Kaprizov wants to be a UFA as soon as possible. It's not about the money, it's about controlling his own fate. As a UFA in 3 years he'd get that $9m and play where he wants and for a Cup contender. MN (in it's current state) is not a Cup contender with Kaprizov, it's not even a fringe Playoff team without him. He knows this, and from the looks of things, other players know it too. Old guys on their last legs and fringe NHLers are all MN got to sign as UFAs, and even that took overpays on their deals.

Russo might be fed up. He can't say anything negative about the team, and he's run out of positive things to say. Reporting on the Wild is his job, and there is nothing going on to write about. There is only so much fluff human interest stories about the players he can write about.

This offseason should have been a layup for the GM: re-sign 3 RFAs, re-sign Brodin, get a center, fill in a couple of depth FWDs spots, and a bottom pair LD.

I'm thinking that we have to sign him to 4 years, so we can get a chance to extend him. 9.5mx4 might do it, but if we sign him for that, what do we go to Fiala with? Do we sign him to 6.5mx4? I don't see how Fiala would sign that.

We've got to sign Fiala first. Or we'll have to trade one of them

Trade them both an embrace the tank. I just feel bad for Brodin and JEE. No way they signs those contracts if they knew the state of the team just a few months later.

Out of curiosity, do either of you listen to Worst Seats, and if so have you caught the latest episode? Russo and Pants dig into the Kap contract a bit, and both of them vehemently agree that it’s better to let him sit in the KHL and say good riddance vs. sign him to a 3 year. Their argument is that the principle exceeds whatever trade value you’d get from him.

My jaw was on the floor.

They're right in one sense
Wrong in another

If KHL beat NHL like that for a UFA
Its accomplishing something no other Hockey league ever has
Its taking a top Prospect and making him their Ovi or Crosby

People woulda ate that **** up
Given the current political climate in Russia its lucky he didnt
Either way no NHL team could be responsible for going down as the Straw the broke the Camels back
