Rangers only trade Strome if they have a separate deal to replace him.

Hopefully something other than Eichel.

I had a second at first but i didn’t think that would be enough considering new york knows the position we’re in

They won’t be able to pay him after this year and they have younger better pieces so i’m sure they’re okay with getting a first rounder

I think New York doesn't even consider moving Strome unless they get Eichel. They're issue right now is centre depth and moving Strome without having a replacement for him only makes them weaker there, regardless of the severe overpayment by Boston here

That’s fair i’m not sure how well hertl fits or if SJ is willing to move him but we need someone on that second line to make hall worth it

This is just from Boston’s angle and I agree with your point I think at some point they’ll move him since they probably won’t sign him long term but if they get Eichel this would be ideal for both sides

Hertl is SJs 1C and will likely cost you debrusk, 1st, 2nd at the very least

They still wouldn't move him unless they have a replacement. It's quite a few steps backwards to move someone that they're using as a 2C without a guy to fill the spot. Unless they're out of the playoff race by the deadline, then they might move him, but otherwise he'll stay and likely re-signs in New York. His cap hit won't be much higher than it is now on a new deal so he'll be affordable
