Also he’s bottom pairing guy on deep defence.

Any team with Holl in their top 4 is not considered a deep defense. Dermott did not even dress for 4 of the 7 play off games against Montreal, not exactly a ringing endorsement from the team that knows him better than anyone else.

I mean the same can be said for Romanov. By that sense Romanov is worth. 3rd or 4th because he was scratched for most of the playoffs…

I’m comparing 2 young defenceman to the value your trying to put on them. It’s ok it’s evident you don’t understand the market. You pay for upside and for term, along with how good the player is. Dermott has upside and after his contract you retain his rights…

What is evident is the blue tinted glasses you wear. If you are going to compare 2 defensemen, at least have them comparable. Romanov is 21 years old, 3 years younger than Dermott. It is very evident you don't understand the market since you think a 24 year (turning 25 in December) defenseman, who can't even crack the line up in a play off game after playing all year with the team, is going to get you a 2nd round pick in a deep draft year. Just what is Dermott's upside? He will improve enough to become a #5 defenseman by the time he is 27? Even the most loyal maple leaf fans are likely laughing at this post right now.

FYI defenceman takes longer to develop. Pulock, Peelch and more didn’t breakout till their 25 yrs old. As how you taking a jab at a defenceman that was playing on a deep blue line…
