Quoting: Joronto
Fair enough. I should specify my comparison: I meant especially the series vs. MTL when it mattered. 3 points in 6 Games didn't looked that good. And Kerfoot did not play first line minutes. My main point was the cap hit anyway.
Unlike Patches
Kerfoot wasnt a big enough factor to even be blamed for a loss
If anyone takes it Mark Stone IMO has to own it
He kept rushing entry into the zone thinking eventually he's over power Petry
He just kept making the same mistake over and over.
TML on the other hand the coach ****ed them
If They split up Marner/Matthews we would have had to split up Danault/Gallagher
MM and AM both thrive on their own
PD and BG arent the same level of defenders apart
If your Coach had payed attention to this fact no way we win
But the real defining moment for TML losing was game 5 when the coach Challenged for Goaltender Interference and failed.
The goal counted and we scored again on the PP all because your Goalie didnt make the effort to recover and make the save.
He just layed out facedown on the ice like he was just shot
That was the defining moment for me
TML stopped believing they could win
You saw the life get sucked out of the bench
Marner kept his head down the rest of the series and was unheard from
Austin Matthews to his credit battled but focused more on 1v1 power battles then shooting pucks.(still hell of an effort )
