Good place to go for a 1-year bounce-back style contract, after being a healthy scratch for the Habs Cinderella run.

Can think of a lot of better places than Toronto where he’d going to get scrutinized daily

He is still a good regular season scorer so even if him sitting in the playoffs negatively impacts his contract , I think he will still get a contract with at least a 3. Time will tell.

Yes, there are many, but maybe that's not what's best for him at this point in his career.

If he puts up a 50-60 pt. though, don't you think this market would give him extra exposure to signing that next 5x5+ contract?

He could put up those points on 10 different teams that could use and afford him and wouldn’t be as unfairly critical of a player. There’s a reason guys don’t want to go to canadien markets more and more. Plus this isn’t a good choice to show he can perform in the playoffs given the leafs struggles.
