Moving up in the ranks

Created by: Lancebmx
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 31, 2021
Published: Jul. 31, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Throwing money at a couple to free agents, if Barkov is unavailable I would be going after Zibanejad, Couterier, Trocheck and Hertl. If Reilly is unavailable go after Ekholm. Nurse would be ideal but I doubt Edmonton doesn't sign him. If none of those defencemen can be signed I would look at bringing back Leddy or another veteran or two to fill the holes.
Threw in a random trade I would like to see happen.
Depending who is drafted in the 2022 draft would determine who would get traded at the deadline. If we draft a top winger I look at possibly moving Bertuzzi and Suter for the right price. If we draft a top centre I would entertain a Larkin trade but it would be very expensive for the other team, unless I knew he would sign with us in free agency.
I would expect this team to be battling for a playoff spot although the defence is a bit suspect and I don't think we have enough scoring yet.

Why wouldnt MTL just give a 2nd and a 3rd round pick with Byron if that's all you wanted?

We wouldnt throw away Drouin especially after his statements letting us know he's returning.
He was playing great hockey with Suzuki -Armia before going out. Its worth waiting till TDL to see if he can start strong this season

Drouin lost his value when we didnt know if he was returning
Now that we know he is and like Robin Lehner has a support system in place
We're happy to see if he also can play some great hockey now that the monkey's off his back

I did not see that report on Drouin, now that I know I won't make another trade like that. Good to hear he's going to be back though.

They gave the update during the Price Surgery Update
It kind of flew under the radar as a result

There is no way Yzerman brings Drouin to Detroit.

With the way everything happened made me think that Montreal knew and gave their full support to him. I don't know what it was all about and I don't care because the thing people are going to remember is that Montreal stuck by their player when he needed it.
